About
When you think of natural hair you think about big, curly/wavy hair. Like a wash and go, but no. Being natural is so much more, just because you want your hair to be straight does not mean that you have to go out and contaminate it anad basically burn it straight and being natural does not mean you have to wear your hair in a big Afro all the time. It is hard to keep your hair straight when dealing with the crazy weather in Cleveland, but in the long run being natural is the healthier coice and you will see a drastic change in the growth, texture, and volume. Women need to realize that there is beauty in their natural hair and embrace it.
When you go natural you feel natural all over, you start to realize that everything that you put in or on yourself should be healthy because no matter what you think everything that goes on your body can affect you. Sometimes you have to think, "if you can't eat it, don't put it in your hair." No matter what you’ll also have a different style. Being natural is so versatile, one day you can have a wash n' go, twist out, a curly Mohawk, or even braids. You don’t always have to be a cute curly-headed cabbage patch, there are so many protective styles you can do.
Some people with relaxer may try to argue saying that having a relaxer is more convenient. You don't have to wake up an hour earlier to take out your hair, all you have to do is take off your scarf and unwrap it. No more late nights twisting your hair or early mornings untwisting it, and wondering whether it's going to turn out right. It is also easy to manage. You don't need much to do your hair, all you need is the relaxer, shampoo, and conditioner. Since your hair is already going to be straight after you wash if there will be no hassle trying to detangle it as you blow dry it. If you think that is all, think again. No more stressing about the weather and if you are going to sweat it out or get it wet and it get frizzy. That's the main reason to get a perm, to prevent the frizzy, puffiness.
Having straight hair is nice and just because you are natural that doesn't mean that you are banned from having straight hair. But what females with relaxer don't understand is that once you get a perm there is no going back, there is no versatile, your hair will always be straight, your curls won't be as defined because after a few hours or days they will fall because your hair is so used to being straight. Then you have to continue getting perms because if you don't, you might as well say goodbye to your hair. Now just because you are natural that doesn't mean you have to be against weaves, wigs, and even braids. Because with me, I understand it is a lot of work dealing with your hair on daily basis, so when you are tired and have a lot going on, you need a protective style. Not only are these easier ways to deal with your hair, but they can also help with your growth. No matter what you will always have a style to do when natural.
For years women have worried about the way their hair looked to other people, for that same reason women have put relaxers in their hair because they thought it was more manageable. Therefore, losing their natural curl pattern and turning it straight. Instead of going out and having fun on a hot day, they are worried about not sweating out their hair or getting it wet. Don’t get me wrong, I understand not wanting to stay up all night doing your hair or going to the salon to pay for it to get done after you just got it done last week. But women should control their hair and not let it control them. Have fun with your natural hair, embrace your culture, and join the wave.
